Well another year has come to an end. As I'm taking my holiday decorations down I realized I might want to make note of the fragrances that I totally loved in 2011. Ah spring..time for me to retire my winter scents and get ready for florals and fruits.
lemon
Meyer Lemon is a light creamy yellow color with a classic picture of a bunch of lemons with one cut in half.

Yankee Candle describes this scent as " perfectly ripe, with a naturally sweet and refreshing scent."

It's a lemon scent that is creamy and lightly sweet. It's not too tart or too lemony where it's going to overwhelm its user. Doesn't remind me of cleaning supplies which I know is why some are turned off by lemon scents.

IMO:
I was so happy to see a lemon scent in the spring line up!! I personally love love love lemon scents and this is one of my favorite so far!! It has a nice medium throw that warms up the room with citrus creaminess. I am going to get a bunch of tumblers and tarts in this scent!! This makes a great everyday choice.

I love it!! I hope that it will keep my jars from tunneling. I am so sick of wasting foil trying to fix my candles. I hope this will keep the heat in and around the glass and keep it out of the way of drafts since it's pretty tall. We'll see. I never thought these would go on sale either. Originally $49.99 down to $12!! Worth a shot IMO.

bflowersThis is one of the new scents for the Spring from Yankee Candle. It's a light pink/purple color and the cold throw smells strong and kind of sweet! I melted it today, even though it's not springtime and I'm still enjoying winter fragrances.
Yankee Candle's website says "the lovely scent of tuberose, lily, and hyacinth blossoms balanced with soft watery notes".

I this it's soft enough for a bedroom or bathroom yet has a strong enough throw for a family room. It's definitely a scent for the spring time, especially since I live near the beach. Nice and fresh even if it's not In that category.

IMO:
I think this a great scent for even those of you that don't particularly care for floral to try. I don't care for floral but this is a keeper to me. I will more than likely put this in the guest room once spring comes around.

SAS lootI went out and about yesterday to Yankee Candle and Bath & Body Works (oh and Marshall’s too).  It was a crazy mad house in BBW but I got some good deals (even though the flyer said the SAS was on the 27th most of it was already marked down).  I went to the bigger of the two stores since I go to the smaller one all the time I thought it would be best with all the people trying to partake in the SAS.  It was a smart move.  Anyways, here’s the loot!

tpwallTwisted Peppermint=\= I am glad I grabbed these!  Since they didn’t sell the body care for very long, I figured this would be good to have in the house for the remainder of winter.

mfwallMarshmallow Fireside=\= Love this scent!!  I bought two boxes, if I like it I will get some more.  I haven’t tried it in the wallflower form yet.  I wish they had the candle since I really enjoyed this…just enough sweet and smoky, truly a marshmallow fireside scent.  I think Slatkin’s fireside is the most authentic one out there.

scwallCinnamon Stick=\= It smells like the name.  I use this in my kitchen in one of the duo holders.  Usually one Cinnamon Stick and one Cinnamon and Clove Buds.

ccbwallCinnamon and Clove Buds=\= I love my kitchen to smell like I baked! LOL!!  I think since cinnamon is used in just about everything I make (sweet wise) it’s a nice way to have those scents linger.  Even though Lemon is my number one, during holidays cinnamon rules the kitchen.

swlotionSecret Wonderland=\= My best friend gave Secret Wonderland to me last year for a Christmas gift and I fell in love.  Before that I was strictly a Country Apple/Sweet Pea kind of girl.  Obviously my tastes have change a little.  These were $3 each. Wow!

dklotionDark Kiss=\= I wasn’t sure about Dark Kiss at first.  I had heard of this from Ellie – Pepper19882007 and thought I would give it a try.  I have to say I get a lot of compliments while wearing this fragrance.  Amazing!

cllotionCharmed Life=\= Can’t beat 75% off!  I bought these for like $2.62!  It’s just an okay fragrance but for so cheap why not keep it around in the guest bath or take the lotion and spray to work if I need to….the possibilities are endless!

mfcandleMarshmallow Fireside=\= Buy a 1.6oz candle and get a glass hurricane with it for $2!  Love getting things for free.

twsp

Twisted Peppermint=\= Scentportables are a great way to freshen up your car!  I love these vs. Yankee’s car jars and I haven’t had any problems with leaking disks or anything.  I know I have heard YC’s leaking and ruining the interior of cars.  Yum in one of my favorite scent!

ccb candleCinnamon and Clove Buds=\= You can’t beat 50% off the candles.  I think Slatkin’s give off a great throw!  This is great during my baking for the holidays.

spice candleSpice=\= This kind of reminds me of the one above, but its got a holiday spice hint to it.  Kind of red hots meets clove buds.  So nice!

vanilla bean noel soapVanilla Bean Noel =\= I love this in a hand soap.  I think it’s a great soap for work, where you aren’t sure what others like.

I will have the other part, Yankee Candle, soon.

three tropical carnivalI went to Bath and Body Works the other day to pick up some holiday gifts and they had the previews out for the Tropical Carnival line.  I’m not sure that is the actually name of the line, it’s just what was on the website when I looked up the scents on the BBW page.  Here they are:

Aruba Coconut =\=aruba coconut
Aruba Coconut is that sun tan lotion/coconut scent that people like during the summer.  I actually like this…it’s definitely something I would wear if I wanted to feel like I was just at the beach or pool.  The notes are creamy coconut, exotic lychee and white musk.  It’s got a sweet hint to it which I like….the dry down doesn’t smell like vanilla coconut which is great (I didn’t care for the signatures vanilla coconut).  It’s similar to Hawaii Coconut so if you liked HC try this one out.

Bali Mango =\=bali mango
Bali Mango was out last year and I do believe it was pretty popular.  Glad to see it came back for the up coming year.  The notes are juicy mango, sugar cane, passionflower, and nectarine.   I like this fragrance since it’s really fruity and summer-y.  When I smell this, I think of laying out on the beach or by the pool.  Warm breezes blowing, and the sun beaming down.  Now don’t be confused about this mango.  If the last mango you tried was from the signature Coconut line then please give this a try.  I didn’t care for the coconut Mango.  At first I did but I got tired of it super fast.

*Rio Rumberry =\=rio rumberry
Rio Rumberry is a new scent for this year.  Last year’s line had Fiji Passion fruit in it, which was my top pick.  They got rid of it and filled it’s spot with Rio Rumberry which was a great choice.  I do believe I will be getting this scent in the large bottle, along with Bali Mango.  The notes are tropical berries, fresh papaya and vanilla blossom.  When I opened the bottle, I totally thought it smelled like a mixed drink/daiquiri.  I really smell the papaya and berries.  I didn’t get the vanilla until it dried down.

Overall, I’m happy with these three scents.  I am glad that B&BW brought back Bali Mango and tweaked the other two to make different fragrances.  Even though I was a fan of Fiji Passion fruit and liked Hawaii Coconut I know that the two new scents will be perfect for the warm summer month that will be here before you know it.

I had an opportunity to check out some of the new spring scents from Yankee Candle.  I only picked up some of them so I figured I will review the ones I have in a separate post.  This is just to list them and let you know about them according to their website you can visit here –> Yankee Candle.

The new Spring 2012 Yankee Candle Scents are:
1. Beach Flowers
2. Beach Wood
3. Coastal Waters
4. Meadow Showers
5. Meyer Lemon
6. Pink Blush
7. True Rose
8. White Gardenia

Beach Flowers =\=
The website says “like delicate keepsakes from the sea, the lovely scent of tuberose, lily and hyacinth blossoms balanced with soft water notes.”    This fragrance is listed in the Floral category.  The label has different flowers, a sea shell, and what looks like a starfish all on top of some sort of beach grass.  Seems to fit the later spring months moving into summer.

Beach Wood =\=
The website says “seasoned by the elements, this modern blend of vetiver, salt air and driftwood creates an intriguing fragrance.”  This fragrance is listed in the Fresh category.  The label has different types of sea shells, driftwood, and hearts made out of stone (I think) in a washed up beach scene.

Coastal Waters =\=
The website says “clean and bracing, the rush of cool ocean spray from the breaking surf clears the mind and refreshes the soul.”  This fragrance is listed in the Fresh category.  The label has ocean water rushing up to smooth rocks.

Meadow Showers =\=
The website says “daydreaming of a quiet escape, the naturally tranquil and airy scent of fresh raindrops of blades of green grass.”  This fragrance is listed in the Fresh category.  The label has different grasses with a pail filled with water which I’m sure it’s rain based on the scent description.

Meyer Lemon =\=
The website says “a bright and sunny citrus, perfectly ripe, with a naturally sweet and refreshing scent.”  This fragrance is listed in the Fruit category.  The label has a couple of lemons on it, one is sliced open.  It’s simplistic.

Pink Blush =\=
The website says “graceful and feminine, a bouquet of soft pink blooms gently kissed with vanilla.”  This fragrance is listed in the Floral category.  The label has up close picture of flowers opening up with pink and green accents.

True Rose =\=
The website says “alluring, rich and velvety, as fragrant as a special delivery of flawless deep red roses.”  This fragrance is listed in the Floral category.  The label has a red rose up close and water drops on the petals. Elegant!

White Gardenia =\=
The website says “so captivating!  The stunning royal beauty of lush white gardenias in full bloom.”  This fragrance is listed in the Floral category.  The label has an up close picture of the inside of a gardenia.  White, yellow center, green leaves in the background (barely noticeable).  Beautiful!

Buy 3 get 3 free is going on now!  Great deal no matter what time of year!  Use those coupons and get more bang for your buck!   I just received my newest delivery from B&BW and I’m so excited!  I picked up some candles: Vanilla Bean Noel, Kitchen Spice and Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Sticky Toffee Pudding was a winner of the recipe contest and I think it smells the best out of the three.  We shall see!  I am going burn my in the candle room since it has maple in it (the hubs can’t stand that smell…too bad because I love it).

Stay tuned for a review =)

drink scents

I picked up the three drink scents: Vanilla Tini, Strawberry Sparkler, and Jingle Bellini the other day.  I think these are supposed to be like celebrating the new year or perhaps partying during the holidays?  I don’t know.

I’ll start with the one I like least:

Vanilla tini =\=

vanillatini

The B&BW website says “Our exclusive Vanillatini is an addictive cocktail of fresh vanilla, creamy coconut, and lemon zest.”

If you liked signature vanillas coconut then I guess you might like this one.  I don’t care for it BUT I didn’t like Signature Vanillas Coconut either.  When this dries down there isn’t much of a scent, it’s very soft, to the point where you can’t really smell it, which can be good if you don’t like to have super strong lingering coconut.  Okay, to be honest this was a hard one for me to review.  I could hardly stand it being on a small portion of my forearm.  Something about the way this smells just isn’t my taste but I wanted to be able to say what it was similar to so if you like that, you can get it! =)

Jingle Bellini =\=

jingle bellini

The B&BW website says “Our exclusive Jingle Bellini is a festive cocktail of peach champagne, apricot nectar, and powdered sugar.”

When I open the cap, I actually like this one.  I enjoy getting a Peach Bellini when I go out to Brio or Cheesecake Factory.  They are tasty and this scent pretty much matches the beverage.  A true peach Bellini has white peach puree and a dry sparkling wine.  However, the ones I have had also added Peach liqueur, like schnapps, to the mix.  I really don’t mind the fact it doesn’t smell like a fresh piece of fruit.  The dry down is nice, fruity sweet, not perfume-y.  Sometimes I want a scent that is basic/fruity and not having to break into my stash of classics to satisfy my needs.  I would consider buying this in a larger bottle when it goes on sale.

Strawberry Sparkler =\=

strawberry sparkler

B&BW website says “Our exclusive Strawberry Sparkler is a flirty cocktail of wild strawberries, sparkling mandarin and pink jasmine.”

Sweet and fruity what more could this girl ask for (except to bring Country Apple and other classics back to the stores)!  I think once you get over this tingling/tangy smell that they use to make things smell bubbly and carbonated it dries down and is a simple scent.  I get the strawberry which in my opinion smells like strawberry lip balm.  I don’t mind using strawberry scents that remind me of how strawberries taste after they have been cleaned, sliced and sprinkled with sugar.  If you let them sit for a bit in the fridge the sugars mix with the strawberry juice and makes like a syrup.  That’s how this smells to me.  Nothing out of this world, just ordinary.  I wouldn’t mind having this at work for when I’m needing a little lotion and since it dry down is light and would bother anyone that might pass by.

Over all I like two of the three, which I’m pretty surprised!  I feel that B&BW has been hit or miss for me.  Some fragrances I really really want to like…but it doesn’t mix well with my chemistry.  I will more than likely look for these when they go on sale.  I would imagine it would be at the SAS which I’m not sure just yet when that is going to start, but I’ll post it once I know.  I have heard right after Christmas and then I have heard January.  As soon as I find out I’ll post it on here and on all my other sites as well.

Enjoy your day!

twistedpeppermint bottles

Good Ol’ Twisted Peppermint.  I get so many compliments about this scent when I wear it.  The bottle says “A tempting blend of cool, refreshing mint, white sugar, and just a hint of rich vanilla”.

It may seem a bit strong when you open it to smell it but once it’s on your skin you get two surprises!  1. it’s soothing.  I can feel it tingling on my skin after about 30 seconds to a minute.  It’s so nice to use in the morning to pep me up for work and if I use it in the evening to relax my tired muscles.  2. At least for me, when it dries down you get a soft minty and vanilla scent that lasts for hours!  During the day, I get hints of peppermint/vanilla and I literately will think what is that wonderful smell.  Takes me just a second to realize, it’s ME!twistedpeppermint showergel

One of my friends (also a B&BW user) asked if I had a little bottle that I had used to reapply, when I told her no she was impressed! She uses Vanilla Bean Noel during the holidays and never tired Twisted Peppermint probably because it smells so strong in the bottle.

twistedpeppermint bodylotionIt’s not over powering, or sickening sweet like other Holiday Traditions scents.  If you are lover of vanilla and want a take it up a notch for the holidays or winter season, you may want to try this one out if you haven’t already!  Even if you don’t like vanilla (I’m not a super fan of vanilla scents, if I’m in the mood for it, I’ll wear VBN or WVS) you might like this one, it’s subtle so you want smell like a bottle of vanilla extract.

This year, Twisted Peppermint was out for a limited time.  I think they had it on the website for a bit longer than they carried it in the stores, which is a shame.  I can’t believe they would take a way such a wonderful fragrance so quickly.  Especially since it could be used all winter, not just in December.  Perhaps I will be able to get some during the semi annual sale.

drink scents
