I want to wish you all a happy New Year!! I'm off to the movies and dinner!!  First movie in 10 months!
I am currently wearing Forever Midnight by BBW!  I received it as a gift from one of my kiddos (at work).
I really like it and even got a couple of compliments. Be safe and enjoy the end of a very busy year and hello to a new start.

Okay so I have a complaint to make and it might just be user error verses the product itself.
Essie hates me....plain and simple.  I just can't get it to stay on my nails longer then 4 hours. It chips off right after it dries. Now I have asked my friends (who swear by Essie) what they do when they paint their nails. The only thing I can see is I don't use Essie brand top coat. I do use different top coats. I feel that sometimes Seche Viet pulls the polish off the tips (like it does with my Zoya polish, even when I paint the tips)I might use Out the Door or Orly.
This mani is Toggle to the Top. A beautiful sparkly maroon/ garnet color. The application was fine. Smooth. I used two coats and then taped them up to add Gold Metal by Sinful Colors. Not what I was wanting to do at first, but it turned out okay. I feel I painted too far down with the gold but I was too lazy to do it over.

I started melting Scentsy's Cinnamon Bear in the bathroom.  I know that cinnamon may not be a choice for most in the bathroom, but we don't use this particular bathroom.  It is the baby's bathroom and is mostly used for bath time ;). I like the fact that this scent is powerful but not to the point of turning it off.  It fills the bathroom and the hallway with this red hots- sweet warm cinnamon - fragrance. I will surely be ordering more!
Deck the halls!  This tree was a must for me!  Luckily it was given to me as a Christmas gift. As soon as I got it home I had to start melting right away!  At first I thought the lights would have lit up with the light bulb inside but they don't.  The tree top has holes in it so the fragrance can still escape and look like a tree!  Overall I am super excited to have this warmer in my collection!

I go to Disney World...a lot.  So one afternoon I thought I would try and find something Disney to wear on my nails.
I didn't quite know what I was looking for until I thought to myself to check etsy for some mouse head glitter.  Well all sorts of things pop up. I wasn't sure if I wanted loose glitter or if I wanted a polish already stuffed with it. I ended up with this beautiful polish by Rica. It is a pink/purple crelly (Creme and jelly combined).

I love how much this sparkles!  Different sizes and shapes of glitter. White, pink and holo silver (super shiny).  I like how the crelly lays over the holo mickey heads.
I actually wore this polish to Walt Disney World. °O° it was perfect!!  Several cast members had to take a double take to make sure they did actually see Mickey head glitter on my nails! <3

I know I really have been waiting to try an ombré style mani for a while and I figured what better time to do....Halloween - Candy corn should be something that a lot of people have done so there should be a dozen tutorials out there.  I found a couple, grabbed my cheap Sally Girl White, Canary yellow and Pumpkin orange ...set up and prepped my nails!  I was totally pleased the way my left hand turned out.
I know a lot of people will use tape to prevent the mess around the nail but I didn't want to deal with it.
Anyway I started with white nails...did not matter if it was perfect since it was going to be covered up. A day later I dipped the cosmetic sponge in white, orange, and yellow and voila!

Okay so as soon as I heard this was coming out I had to pick it up.  I totally love lemon scents as we all know (and if you are new to the blog, I love Love LOVE lemon scents)  so this was a must for me.  Of course it’s a bright yellow candle and I believe it to be apart of the Italian line that came out this spring.  Now, having tried this candle and other various lemon candles that BBW has put out, I have to say I think this candle smells like another lemon candle that has been out.  Perhaps it’s not the SAME but it’s pretty close.  Seriously, it reminds me a lot of Fresh Lemon.  It’s sweet lemon.  Not a lemonade but something less tart.  I really don’t care because I loved it! Now I didn’t go crazy and stock up but I did grab a couple of them (just to keep on hand).  Let me tell you about this candle’s throw….WOW! I swear sometimes these BBW candles fill my whole house and this one is no exception!  I actually had to blow it out and give it a rest (which is pretty awesome if I must say). BBW described this scent as:

"Cheers! Notes of Sorrento lemons, cane sugar and a hint of lemon zest capture Italy's beloved after-dinner liqueur, Limoncello.”

20130516_645I have to say that I was really impressed with this scent.  I know so many other companies have put these two fragrances together but I think everyone has their own idea as to what it is supposed to smell like.  For me, this is it.  It’s a nice calming and relaxing scent.  Not too herbal but not perfume-y either.  The vanilla is creamy but subtle.  It’s not like a super sugary sweet vanilla or a baking vanilla.  This is a great anytime scent but I like to melt/burn these types of fragrances in the bedroom.  It was not choke you out strong but it had a nice throw and easily filled my great room.  The Kringle website describes this scent as:

“Two classic scents that play well together. Honest, rich Vanilla meets one of the great understated florals.”

Worth It: Yes.  I’m not too crazy about lavender, it has to be just the right kind.  I did enjoy this one

Alright so here’s what I picked up from Yankee!

Jars

6 Shortbread Cookie
2 Oatmeal Cookie
3 Key Lime Pie
2 Lemon Zest
2 Star Fruit and Orange
4 Be Thankful
1 Berry Jam
1 Country Kitchen Line – Chocolate Cake
2 Country Kitchen Line – Fresh Baked Goods

I didn’t go TOO over board …just picked up a lot of shortbread cookie since it’s one of my favorites!  I actually didn’t buy any tarts nor did I pick up any accessories.  There wasn’t much that I wanted this go around.  Did you go to the SAS?   Did you pick up anything?  I am going to head back to the store next week and grab the fall scents to review.

I went to Walmart and I always check out their candle selection, I guess I think I’m going to stumble upon something truly amazing.  I found what a lemon bakery candle!  I was so excited and without hesitation I picked up four of the three wick 11.5 oz candles (retail for $3.50 a piece).  Seriously where could go wrong for the price and it smelled decent on a cold sniff.

Immediately when I arrived home I pulled out one of the candles and lit it.  I was so excited to find out what it was going to smell like.  The description on Walmart’s website says

“Mainstays Lemon Cake Candle is light and deliciously sweet. Sugared lemon cupcakes embellished with tangy touches of lemon zest and fluffy accents of whipped citrus vanilla frosting.”

20130601_101After a little while of burning this candle I could smell a faint bakery lemony scent.  As it made its way down to the bottom of the jar, however, it started to smell like lemons that were set on fire.  I get that every so often with candles, the smell of something on fire or smoke smell, and that’s why it’s important to burn a candle all the way unless you are planning on swapping it out after the mid way point.  Unfortunately, I was not amazing by this candle.  I wanted to be…I really did.  I was going to be so happy to find an inexpensive lemon candle that I could find easily.  Oh well I will burn the others that I have and perhaps be done with it.

Rating (0-5): StarStarit was okay at the beginning

Throw: medium.  It actually put out a decent throw, I could smell it over some of the other candles I had going.

Worth It: I would almost say I rather buy this just to melt it on my hot plate.

Have you ever been surprised about something you tried? I have with this scent. At first, I didn't get that strong of a fragrance from this little tike. This .8 oz cup really rocked my socks. I couldn't believe how strong this scent was while melting it. The description of this fragrance is Toasty Mallow Zucchini Bread ♥♥
A sweet and spicy blend of perfectly toasted marshmallows and moist zucchini bread. Created by Sarah M! Available in creamy or spicy zucchini bread. An OLC blend.

Absolutely one of my new faves!! A delicious spicy bread with sweetness from the marshmallow.

20130516_643

It was suggested to me by Kringle that I try Rosemary and Fresh Baked Bread together and I thought the other night that it was just what I needed to melt after a long day of doing laundry, entertaining a baby, and cooking dinner.  I don’t always like the aftermath of dinner fragrances….sometimes it just lingers too long.  I thought of this because sometimes sugary sweet scents don’t play well with odors from our meal.

I have already written a review for Fresh Baked Bread…the short version – I love it and will continue to buy it as long as they have it.  It’s the best bread scent that I have come across. <3

20130516_651

Now, on to the Rosemary.  I have purchased one of the Spice Line candles before and LOVED it..(I haven’t gotten to the review of it yet)..so when I saw this in the box, I’m sure the smile on my face was HUGE!  This smells amazing!  I think it is so authentic and it is like I totally have a sprig of rosemary in my hand.  What a minute…but what does it smell like..this is actually kind of tricky to explain.  Rosemary has kind of a salty sweet pine smell.  I know that might not make a whole lot of sense but if you really need to know, go and find it at the store and smell it!  Sure you might look a little silly but it’s okay.  Adored!

Before I melted this I guessed that it would smell like the bread and herbs you get at Italian restaurant.  It was even better than I imagined!  I already was in love with the FBB but adding the Rosemary pushed it over the edge of savory scents.  I think I will actually buy these both in the largest size so I an burn them together.  I would recommend this to anyone who needs a change up from the sugary sweet fragrances.

This is one of the new fragrances that came out with the Italian line. I was super excited to hear about this scent because I love coffee scents even though I really haven’t expressed that on here.  It’s hard to find a coffee scent that I use…they typically are too strong or they are mixed with some other notes that I don’t care for…maybe I don’t like their (random company’s) pumpkin or gingerbread.

Bath and Body Works describes this fragrance as:

In Italy, you never take your coffee “to go” – instead you stop and savor the aromas of roasted espresso beans and sweet vanilla froth that inspired this fragrance

I love this fragrance!!!  It’s bold and strong! It’s so strong… I have it sitting on my kitchen table/bar and it’s not even lit and I can smell it!!  Rich roasted espresso beans with slight creaminess….totally in love! I have 13 of these!!  I love how it smells like a coffee shop …yes even if it has a hint of chocolate.  I have heard others say that and I agree it does but I like Mocha drinks so it’s all good!

6052670461254022Golden Sands is one of the new fragrances from Yankee Candle for the summer.  It is listed in the Fresh category even though I get some floral in this as well.

This fragrance is not strong by any means but that doesn’t mean rule it out.  I totally picture a nice evening stroll on the beach while the sun is setting however it does not have a “beachy” smell to it.  I don’t get even a hint the salty water, sea air or sun tan lotion smell.  I actually smell vanilla…not like a baker’s vanilla but a softer feminine vanilla.  I can smell the sandalwood and I do get a sweet floral note in it as well.  Yankee Candle’s description of this scent is:

Your private beach awaits, where time pauses in soft breezes of soothing sandalwood, luminous orange flower and warm tonka beans.

IMG_0219I personally won’t be buying this in a jar or anything but it was nice to try.  I wouldn’t turn it down if it was offered as a gift.

It’s not overly floral which is nice because I’m pretty picky about floral scents.  I can’t handle them if they are too powdery.

Rating (0-5): StarStarStar1/2

Throw: light to medium

Worth It: Not something I am running to the store to pick up three jars but I’m sure there are people that really would enjoy this fragrance.

Think about cutting a freshly baked loaf of banana bread…it’s moist, warm, fruity and sweet.  I get a really ripe banana note, which is what I use when I make banana bread…it’s actually the reason I make banana bread just to use up the bananas I purchased.  I think there might be a little brown sugar in the mix. It’s simple yet delicious! I just want to put a pat of butter on this and pour a glass of milk or cup of coffee.

This was super strong!  I only used 1 piece and it filled my house with sweet bread and fresh bananas.  I was pleasantly surprised!  Usually I’m skeptical about scents with banana in them sometimes they smell like Runts candies, but not this.

I feel that Kringle does a wonderful job making their scents very authentic.

Kringle describes this fragrance as:

The rich homey fragrance of oven-fresh banana bread is captured perfectly.  A must sniff.
