Wax Luvs Wicks

So it's after the holidays and I have been surfing the two companies (Yankee and B&BW) to see what deals they've been having. I already placed an order with B&BW for some soaps and a few candles. Yankee, however, I waited...as soon as they had a certain amount for 5 or 6. This sale it's 5 for $60.  I picked up some regular candles and ... a Scenterpiece!  Yay!  I am super excited to try out this mess free interchangeable system. I have been putting it off just because I really didn't need to get sucked in to another warmer.  But I love the idea of the cups..no ice to help pop out the wax, no left over fragrance to mix in with another. So many reasons. I am just worried that they will discontinue it. But it's a chance I am willing to take. 

Okay so as soon as I heard this was coming out I had to pick it up.  I totally love lemon scents as we all know (and if you are new to the blog, I love Love LOVE lemon scents)  so this was a must for me.  Of course it’s a bright yellow candle and I believe it to be apart of the Italian line that came out this spring.  Now, having tried this candle and other various lemon candles that BBW has put out, I have to say I think this candle smells like another lemon candle that has been out.  Perhaps it’s not the SAME but it’s pretty close.  Seriously, it reminds me a lot of Fresh Lemon.  It’s sweet lemon.  Not a lemonade but something less tart.  I really don’t care because I loved it! Now I didn’t go crazy and stock up but I did grab a couple of them (just to keep on hand).  Let me tell you about this candle’s throw….WOW! I swear sometimes these BBW candles fill my whole house and this one is no exception!  I actually had to blow it out and give it a rest (which is pretty awesome if I must say). BBW described this scent as:

"Cheers! Notes of Sorrento lemons, cane sugar and a hint of lemon zest capture Italy's beloved after-dinner liqueur, Limoncello.”

This is one of the new fragrances that came out with the Italian line. I was super excited to hear about this scent because I love coffee scents even though I really haven’t expressed that on here.  It’s hard to find a coffee scent that I use…they typically are too strong or they are mixed with some other notes that I don’t care for…maybe I don’t like their (random company’s) pumpkin or gingerbread. 

 

 

Bath and Body Works describes this fragrance as:

In Italy, you never take your coffee “to go” – instead you stop and savor the aromas of roasted espresso beans and sweet vanilla froth that inspired this fragrance

I love this fragrance!!!  It’s bold and strong! It’s so strong… I have it sitting on my kitchen table/bar and it’s not even lit and I can smell it!!  Rich roasted espresso beans with slight creaminess….totally in love! I have 13 of these!!  I love how it smells like a coffee shop …yes even if it has a hint of chocolate.  I have heard others say that and I agree it does but I like Mocha drinks so it’s all good!

If you are enjoying these wonderful spring/summer fragrances from Bath and Body Works, their semi annual sale will be here before you know it!  I hope you are making your list  I am very excited to see that Wild Honeysuckle is on the list to show up and Velvet Tuberose.  I have heard such great things about them and never tried them before.  I will be on the look out for body wash, anti bacterial hand soap, and candles during the SAS.  I like it when I can find three wick candles for $8.  I haven’t seen the price drop below that and if it did it might have been for scents that I didn’t care for.  Some of the candles are marked down 50% off..Paradise Daiquiri, Jungle Kiss, Seaside Escape, Passion Flower, and Drenched Apple Flower.  I don’t know how long that will last so if you like any of those scents, you may want to swing by the store or order online.  They may go back to regular price right before the SAS.

. During the SAS, I usually check the website for random candles too. There has been times when recently discontinued scents pop up on there.

Alright so I broke down and went shopping at B&BW on Friday. The 4oz candles are on sale 2 for $10 I couldn't resist! I don't usually buy the 4 oz candles because they often misbehave while they are burning but since there are SO many scents out I wanted to try some scents that I was hesitant to buy in a three wick (14.5oz). Here are the scents I purchased at the store:

Well it wasn't enough!! LOL!!! So I placed an order online:

I did get a free bottle of Sweet Pea lotion and a floral bag....oh and $1 shipping when I spent $25!
Here's what I think so far:
Raspberry Sun Tea - smells like the powder instant iced tea.
Sun Tan - I *need* this in a three wick. It's a perfect beachy scent.
Ice Cream Shop - reminds me of Sticky Toffee Pudding ( just because toffee is one of the notes I can pick out). I love it and can't wait for a 2 for $20 ...I'll stock up :D
Beach Cabana - cooling off with some aloe filled lotion.
Ii will review each one of these scents separately in video and blog post.

I saw a picture of these candles a little bit ago and thought to myself that I wouldn't be interested in the because they are floral ...but since I got an email from BBW stating they were going to have 2 for $20 again I thought why not swing by the store.

Pink Chiffon. What can I say, it's light. I get floral and something sweet. It smells like a fragrance that has already been released or a base scent for several scents. Almost like "Be Enchanted" without the pomegranate. The notes are sparkling red pear, vanilla orchid, and whipped chiffon musk.
I can say it doesn't wow me but if you like light scents then you may want to look into his one. I couldn't even smell it on my skin after an hour. I won't be purchasing it but like I stated before if you like like sweet and floral, you might want to get a preview size to try it out!

  I sent them a tweet and asked them flat out why did the burn time change?  We shall see if they will respond but if they do I will let you know.   If you look at their website, it still has the candles as the original burn time.  That could be a template they use to add product though.   Anyways, people have noticed that the candles don’t seem to be as full as they once were.   I actually went all scientific on them.  On the bottom it says that it’s the net weight.   I weighed an empty jar (with the labels on but without the lid) and zeroed out the scale so the jar wouldn’t be counted.  You will have to excuse the dust on the scale, you can tell I don’t use it very often and was too into getting them weighed and not so much on how they would look on camera :).  I then placed several different candles on the scale.  Of course this would be weighing the wicks, wax, and glue to keep the wicks down.  Now unless they changed the jars from the one I weighed to the new scents, then this wouldn’t work but I’m going with they are the same.  You also should keep in mind the wicks have been changed in some of these.  I don’t think it is going to make that much of a difference but just keep it in mind. 

The jar weighs about 8oz.    I weighed Marshmallow Fireside, Green Grass, Paradise Daiquiri, Summer Berries, Jungle Kiss, and Caribbean Salsa.

I went out and about yesterday to Yankee Candle and Bath & Body Works (oh and Marshall’s too).  It was a crazy mad house in BBW but I got some good deals (even though the flyer said the SAS was on the 27th most of it was already marked down).  I went to the bigger of the two stores since I go to the smaller one all the time I thought it would be best with all the people trying to partake in the SAS.  It was a smart move.  Anyways, here’s the loot!

Twisted Peppermint=\= I am glad I grabbed these!  Since they didn’t sell the body care for very long, I figured this would be good to have in the house for the remainder of winter.

 

 

Marshmallow Fireside=\= Love this scent!!  I bought two boxes, if I like it I will get some more.  I haven’t tried it in the wallflower form yet.  I wish they had the candle since I really enjoyed this…just enough sweet and smoky, truly a marshmallow fireside scent.  I think Slatkin’s fireside is the most authentic one out there.

 

Cinnamon Stick=\= It smells like the name.  I use this in my kitchen in one of the duo holders.  Usually one Cinnamon Stick and one Cinnamon and Clove Buds.

 

 

 

 

Cinnamon and Clove Buds=\= I love my kitchen to smell like I baked! LOL!!  I think since cinnamon is used in just about everything I make (sweet wise) it’s a nice way to have those scents linger.  Even though Lemon is my number one, during holidays cinnamon rules the kitchen.

 

 

Secret Wonderland=\= My best friend gave Secret Wonderland to me last year for a Christmas gift and I fell in love.  Before that I was strictly a Country Apple/Sweet Pea kind of girl.  Obviously my tastes have change a little.  These were $3 each. Wow!

 

 

Dark Kiss=\= I wasn’t sure about Dark Kiss at first.  I had heard of this from Ellie – Pepper19882007 and thought I would give it a try.  I have to say I get a lot of compliments while wearing this fragrance.  Amazing!

 

 

Charmed Life=\= Can’t beat 75% off!  I bought these for like $2.62!  It’s just an okay fragrance but for so cheap why not keep it around in the guest bath or take the lotion and spray to work if I need to….the possibilities are endless!

 

 

Marshmallow Fireside=\= Buy a 1.6oz candle and get a glass hurricane with it for $2!  Love getting things for free. 

 

 

 

 

Twisted Peppermint=\= Scentportables are a great way to freshen up your car!  I love these vs. Yankee’s car jars and I haven’t had any problems with leaking disks or anything.  I know I have heard YC’s leaking and ruining the interior of cars.  Yum in one of my favorite scent!

 

 

Cinnamon and Clove Buds=\= You can’t beat 50% off the candles.  I think Slatkin’s give off a great throw!  This is great during my baking for the holidays.

 

 

 

Spice=\= This kind of reminds me of the one above, but its got a holiday spice hint to it.  Kind of red hots meets clove buds.  So nice!

 

 

 

 

Vanilla Bean Noel =\= I love this in a hand soap.  I think it’s a great soap for work, where you aren’t sure what others like.
